Angela M. Daigneault

July 5, 1929 ~ April 1, 2024 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

Angela (Soucy) Daigneault, 94, of Bristol, beloved widow of the late Robert M. Daigneault, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Evergreen Health Care in Stafford, CT. Angela was born in Grand Isle, ME on July 5, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Jean-Baptiste Soucy and Elizabeth (Doucette) Soucy. Although she was born in Grand Isle, she also lived in Van Buren and Fort Kent Maine until 1941 when the family moved to Union Street in Bristol, CT. Her older brothers came to CT first to secure a place to live and line up employment. The rest of the family followed months later. They all piled into a cab and rode to Connecticut over a few days. She graduated from Bristol High School (Boulevard School) in 1948. After high school, she worked in Hartford for some years at Connecticut Bank and Trust on Asylum Street (taking the bus from Bristol). She later was employed for ten years at New Departure (then located in the center of Bristol) as a job production logger until she and her husband began their family. During the late 60’s and into the 70’s, she ran a one-person wedding cake business from the family home. Later, as an empty nester, she did data entry for Cigna Insurance in Farmington for about 9 years before retiring. Angela and her husband Robert met at a dance at what was then the French Social Club in Waterbury, where a story about her shoe flying off sealed their fate as a couple. They were married in Bristol on Nov. 24, 1956. As mentioned earlier, one of her hobbies (and home business) was creating beautiful wedding cakes. She did this while being a homemaker and raising her four children. When they were younger, the children remember the two of them bowling together in a league for many years. When the kids were younger, the whole family would go camping every summer, many times with their Uncle Tony and Aunt Jeanne’s (Angela’s sister) family. Their adventures took them to Lake Waramaug State Park in Kent but sometimes in New Hampshire or Sturbridge, MA. Angela is survived by her four children; Noel Daigneault and his wife Allyson of Manchester, Monique “Niki” Wenzel of Calif., Gregory “Greg” Daigneault and his wife Carol of VT, and Amy Brown and her husband Bruce of Rockville. She was a loving grandmother to Jodi Daigneault, Randy Daigneault, Donovan Daigneault, Adrianne “Adie” Shum, Moriah Wenzel and Ian Brown. Angela is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Violet Porter, Ivory Daigneault, Calvin Daigneault, Nyah Daigneault and Grayson Daigneault and by several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her 10 siblings; Armand, Andrew, Lucien, Bertrand “Bert”, Joseph “Rosario”, Patricia Andrews, Rejeanne “Jeanne” Steere, Adrienne Bouchard, Irma Clavette and Anita Lebel. A Mass of Christian Burial for Angela will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew’s Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
