Tribute

Yolande Marie Morin passed away peacefully with family members by her side Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Words cannot capture the essence of this loving woman who gave so much. She was a deeply caring mother and guiding matriarch to her larger family. Yolande was always there to lend a helping hand or an open ear. She was a trusted confidant for her husband and to her family and friends. She was a beloved grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. If you asked her grandchildren, each would likely claim to be her favorite because when they were with her that is how she made them feel.
She was born to Esther (Desjardins) Levesque and Albenie Levesque on June 22, 1938, in Van Buren, Maine. She was the second child and eldest daughter in a family of 14 children. Being the eldest daughter in a large family she often helped her parents with the childrearing. Her father was a logger for most of his life but later moved his family to Bristol, Connecticut to work as an ironworker for his son-in-law’s steel construction business.
Yolande married Simeon Joseph Morin of Caribou, Maine in 1956. They started their life with that of a travelling ironworker’s family moving often. In 1960 they moved to Bristol and raised 6 children there. While Simeon often crisscrossed the country running his construction business Yolande stayed at home and led the childrearing with a strong but gentle hand. They raised their children to work hard and respect others. She and Simeon were generous to many, taking people into their home and sharing the fruits of their success with those who were in need.
She was an original member and great supporter of St. Gregory the Great parish. A devout Catholic she was a model parishioner. And all of her children graduated from St Paul Catholic High School.
Yolande is survived by six children and their spouses, Michael (Dianne) of Bow, NH, Gary (Suzanne) of Southington, Cheryl Chard (Jim) of Burlington, Lisa Sprague (Nathan) of Portland, ME, Carl (Elize) of Surf City, NC, and Anthony (Susie) of Bristol. She is survived by 15 grandchildren: Matthew Morin, Joshua Morin, Cole Morin, Jonathan Morin, Kassidy Gokey, Ashley Dinella, Wesley Morin, Derek Chard, Cameron Sprague, Allyson Blanchette, Calvin Sprague, Spencer Morin, Reid Morin, Austin Morin and Simeon Morin. And she is survived by 9 great grandchildren: RJ (Richard), Anna, Aurora, Loxley, Luca, Emma, Zuzu, Shay and Ellie. She is also survived by many siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
