I just today heard of Rick's passing, and was overwhelmed with grief. Though we fell out of touch over the years, the memories came flooding back when I read of his passing. There were many, many good times we shared, that still make me laugh and bring a smile to my face. However, the thing I remember most is Rick's character and traits. He was honest, good natured, funny, generous, talented, thoughtful, capable and very intelligent. Rick was one of those rare individuals you could truly took at face value, a rarity in today's society.
There are too many fond memories I had with Rick to detail. So, I will keep it simple. I believe my life and worth as a person benefited from my friendship with Rick. I am truly sorry that we never had the chance to recollect or to say goodbye...but I promise I will never forget him. Kitty, my deepest condolences for your loss. If it's any consolation, you were truly Rick's Angel...you saved him.
An Old Friend,
Mandy

I was so sad to learn of Ricky's passing . I have so many wonderful memories of growing up with him. The twinkle in that eye and the smile that could melt a heart even when you knew he was up to something. Rest in peace my sweet cousin.

The friendships you create at an early age are the ones that seem to last a lifetime. As time passes on, you may forget what you did yesterday, or even what you had for breakfast today. But it's hard forget the good times and memories you created with true friends from your younger years. I reconnected with Rick when his dad passed away after not seeing each other since high school. We picked up where we left off as if it was yesterday and spent the better part of two hours remembering together all of the trials and tribulations we went through in grammar and high school. Such as: The 1965 Columbia "Playboy" bike that he brought to school (which the nuns confiscated), "The Pool" on Melrose St., playing softball at Bracket Park, basketball at the Boulevard and O'Connell Schools, and playing guitar together in a band with the home made amps that my older brother built for us. We were pretty good and even got some paid gigs at parties in 7th and 8th grade. We also laughed and joked about: mini bikes on the Blue Trail, his mom's '69 yellow Chevelle Malibu, his first Yamaha street bike, and of course, the silver Vega! Although he was physically not the same, his spirit and smile never changed. So rest in peace old friend, until we meet again. Save me a spot up front by the microphone so we can: "Pick up our guitars and play. just like yesterday" (The Who). Thanks for taking care of him, Kitty. He was truly one of a kind. Your old friend and bandmate; Russ Swenton

I only knew Rick for the last year or so. My first impression was of his thin and frail body. A sad sight. But then when Rick looked you in the eye and put that disarming smile on you, you almost forgot the rest of him. Rick was patient and slow to speak but when he did he would draw you in with his charm and then nail you down with his great wit. My lasting impresion of Rick is that he was truly a force. I will not soon forget you my friend. RIP Rick. Praying for you Kitty.

I'll always remember the great times we had at St. Anthony's and the times you told the nuns that your name is Rickey not Richard. Rest in Peace Rickey.
