Eugene Morocco

Eugene Morocco, 86, widower of Eleanor (Castagna) Morocco, passed away at The Hospital for Special Care, New Britain on Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2017) with his family by his side. Gene was born in Bristol on Oct. 27, 1930 to the late John and Anna (Nestico) Morocco. Following his retirement, Gene moved to Ormand Beach, Florida in 1996 with his companion Nancy Turton where they spent 20 years together. Gene enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his trips to the Final Four basketball tournament every year. In addition to his companion Nancy, Gene is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Ed and Susan Morocco, of Bristol; daughter and son-in-law: Mary-Anne and Tom Harrigan, of West Hartford; daughter-in-law: Donna Morocco, of Bristol; and five grandchildren: Amy Morocco, Sarah Morocco-Pandoursky, Christina Harrigan, Emily Harrigan, Anastasia Harrigan, all of whom will deeply miss their beloved “Poppie.” In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his son Paul Morocco. Funeral services for Gene will be celebrated at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2017) at 11 AM. Burial will follow with a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Monday between 5 and 7 PM.
