Ellie was very nice, a great asset to the Republican Party in Bristol and the region. I knew her since I began with the Bristol GOP back in 1996. We had a connection going way back because she and my grandfather were friendly. I always cherished that. My condolences.

RIP " Aunite Ellie" Klapatch.

My aunt Ellie first served as the first woman registrar in Bristol in 1952, when it was a part-time job. My Dad always told me she said it proved so much work that she didn't run again until it was made a full-time position. My aunt held the position since 1970 and retired in 2009. He use to say she was always so proud of her helping so many people over the years – and that she never asked for anyone's political affiliation before offering a hand. My Dad was very proud of her because she stood for what the voting process is about and the encouraging of people to become registered voters where in many areas today voting numbers are so low.
In GOP circles, my Dad use to say she was sort of mother hen, the expert to rely on for information on decades of city politics and arcane election rules. She's met and walked with many Republican presidents and presidential contender since Thomas Dewey in 1948 and is friends with governors, senators and scores of political figures across the state in CT and attended so many conventions.
She was the first woman to run for mayor in Bristol and did so much for the community my hometown for years and was very loyal to our Klosowski family. She would always be in charge of the family picnics at Page Park and parties at Winding Trails and scheduled all the family masses every year at the church. She was very devoted to the St. Stainslaus Church and School back in day where most of the family went to grammar school over the years.
God bless you in heaven!

Ellie was a special person. There was no more loyal person on earth. She always worked hard for any Republican who asked. There were no gray areas with her. Things were either right or wrong, and she let you know it. I owe much of my success to her. She was a wonderful woman. There will never be another one like her. Thank you, Ellie. You will be missed.
