Calliope D. Popolizio

Calliope “Clara” (Dalaklis) Popolizio, 89, of Clermont, FL, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years, John R Popolizio. Clara was born in Somerville, MA on May 19, 1928 to the late Constantino “Costas” and Mary (Smyrnaion) Dalaklis. She completed a 25 year career with the Defense Contract Management Agency as an Industrial Specialist. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Clara loved to travel with her husband, family and friends, was a passionate Red Sox fan, loved playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She shared a love of classic cars, theater, cooking and entertaining with her sons and her daughter. She was happiest when doing things with her family and friends. She was a mother to many, always wanted to please people and would do anything for her family. Clara was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Clara leaves behind six children: Richard and Marilee of Raleigh, NC; Ronald and Karen of Unionville; Marianne and Louis Presta of Farmington; Gregory of Southbridge, MA; Robert and Lori of Collegeville, PA; and Christopher and Jennifer of Farmington. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Lisa Rowley, Joseph, Sarah, Nicholas, Kelsey, Jack, Michael and Luke Popolizio and Louis and Angela Presta. Clara had one great grandchild, Dean Rowley. She was predeceased by a brother George Dalaklis. Funeral services will be held on Friday (August 11, 2017) at 9 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 31 Brightwood Rd., Bristol, for a Funeral Rite at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday between 4 and 8 PM.
