Sharon M. Mielcarz

Sharon Marie (Hannon) Mielcarz, 63, of Bristol, beloved wife of Robert T. Mielcarz, died on Saturday (July 19, 2014) at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.  Sharon was born on September 19, 1950 in Waterbury, Connecticut where she lived until marrying Robert on August 18, 1973.  Sharon and Robert have resided in Bristol for the majority of their married life.  Sharon will be remembered for seeing the good in everyone, the beauty in everything, her bright eyes and of course for always being impeccably dressed. Sharon served as a business teacher at St. Paul Catholic High School for thirty-eight years and for the last eight served as Dean of Academics.  Sharon was recognized and honored for her contribution to the past, present and future of St. Paul Catholic High School with induction into their Hall of Fame on March 25, 2004.  Throughout her life she received many professional awards, which underscored the ambition and dedication to her career.  Sacred Heart University honored Sharon for the Outstanding Achievement Thesis in Education on May 12, 2007 and for her Professional Certificate in Administration in the College of Education and Health Professions on December 31, 2008.  In addition she received the Bristol Plus Award for Positive Leadership and Unselfish Service in 2008.  Sharon is survived by her loving husband Robert and their son Jeffrey.  She also leaves behind two sisters: Deborah Hannon Perreault of Torrington and Joan Hannon VanGasbeck of Waterbury; and several nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (July 23, 2014) at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
