Russell H. Modeen

Russell H. Modeen, 87, of Southington, a former Bristol and Nokomis, FL resident, husband of Joan (Frechette) Warkoski Modeen and widower of Nancy (Mason) Modeen, passed away at his home on Sunday October 19, 2014. Russell was born in Bristol on July 16, 1927 and was a son of the late Douglas and Madeline Modeen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Russell retired as General Manager of the E. Ingraham Co. and a year later he began his second career as Vice-President of Bristol Federal Savings and Loan as head of the Lending Department and remained with the bank (Later known as Eagle Bank) for 15 years retiring as Senior Vice-President. He also served as a Director of Bristol Federal Savings and Loan and was a member of the United Way. In addition to his wife Joan, Russell is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn and Donald Allan of Glastonbury, Patrice Modeen Boggs of Clayton, NC, and Barbara Modeen Henshaw of Portsmouth, RI; a daughter-in-law, Sharon (Brandt) Modeen of Terryville; four step-children, Kim Hazelton of Bristol, David Warkoski of Wolcott, Gregory Warkoski of Cumming, GA, and Jeffrey Warkoski of Parker, CO; two brothers, Roger Modeen of Southington and Charles Modeen of East Windsor; two sisters, Elaine Curtis of Southington and Carol Hay of Waterbury; six grandchildren, Emily and Margaret Boggs, Peter and Molly Henshaw, Sandra Modeen Fabrizio, and Lindsay Modeen; two great grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; a step-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews including Vaughn, Charles, and Raymond Modeen, and Cheryl Paden. In addition to his first wife Nancy and his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Roy L. Modeen, a brother, Lawrence Modeen, and two nephews, Douglas and Paul Modeen. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, 11AM, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 90 Church Ave., Forestville.  Burial with military honors will follow in West Cemetery, Plainville. There are no calling hours. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol is in care of the arrangements.
